A blog with the title of “Unusual Business Ideas That Work” is sure to get my attention… particularly with a post on WonderPizza – Pizza Vending Machine, which immediately struck me as a bad idea. Then I thought about it, and decided that wherever people are given a choice between a four-day-old ham sandwich in a vending machine or a hot pizza, the choice is a no-brainer. So yes, there’s a market for it. Then I noticed that the R&D costs were in the millions, and started to wonder how long the ROI was going to take. Now I’m skeptical… but then I don’t have the hard numbers, nor the data on how many sites they need or expect to occupy. Hotel chains, hospitals, workplaces, airports, bus depots… I’m sure there are many places where this could turn a good dollar, at least gross. It’s the ROI that scares me.
A quick trip to the company website suggests to me that they haven’t quite ramped up yet… I was greeted with an error message:
Bandwidth Limit Exceeded

Apache/1.3.37 Server at www.wonderpizzausa.com Port 80
Guess I’ll try again later. I wonder if it’s “on time or free?”
Update: the hosting situation still hasn’t been rectified… either they haven’t noticed over the course of a few days (!!!) or else maybe they shouldn’t have spent all that money on R&D! Tip of the day: if you have a business website check it daily.
